I Met A Real Pirate On Perhentian Island

I am Captain Sharkie! I am from Germany. I’m a German pirate. You see my boat? It is very big. You know mast? You know what is a sail? My boat has 100 sails and 100 masts!

Captain Sharkie

I saw your boat over there yesterday Captain Sharkie. But your boat is not here now. Where is it?
My boat is on Treasure Island.

Where did you sail from?
…. The.. the Carribeans!

Wow! And you sailed it all on your own?
No, I am the Captain! I don’t sail it! My men sail it.

Your men! How many are there?
100. Now they are at Treasure Island looking for gold.

How did you become a pirate, Captain Sharkie?
My sister, she make magic. She is a witch and she make magic and I become a pirate.

What happened to your left eye? Why do you wear an eye patch?
You know Captain Hook? We fight and he took my eye.

Oh no..  That’s not nice.
It’s okay, because I took his hand too.

Ahh Captain Sharkie you’re so mean!
Yes, I am a pirate, you know!

Yes, yes, I know. So who is your favourite pirate?
Jack Sparrow!

But Captain Sharkie, you can’t take the gold on Treasure Island. It is my gold! My sharks are guarding it.
Yaaaaaaaa but my tigers, they will eat your shark.
When Captain Sharkie is not a pirate, he is 6-year-old Willie who has a wild imagination and loves playing with his 10-year-old sister.

How I Accidentally Became A Cross-dresser In Somaliland

Guest Post: Zaina Brown

Crossing a border into someplace new always gave me a jolt of excitement. That first impression could be warm like a hug, polite like a handshake, or rude like a middle finger. Somaliland, however, felt like a punch in the face. Was this whole trip a big mistake? For the first time in my life, I considered flat-out giving up on a country – and it hadn’t even been 24 hours.

Why Egypt Should Be In Your 2019 Travel Plans

When Malaysia Airline’s inflight magazine Going Places asked me to recommend where their readers should travel to in 2019, I thought long and hard. Among all the countries I have backpacked, what is the one place I would recommend my friends and family to go? Where is the one travel destination that I would gladly return to?

Egypt. My heart is yearning for fascinating African nation of Egypt.
